THE RACE ISSUE, NO. 1
In 2016, I launched !Q, an internal, employee-run periodical that contextualizes issues of diversity for Droga5 staff. For each issue, I selected the topic; briefed designers and creatives; and oversaw content development and the budget.
Key cultural happenings helped to select the topic for the inaugural issue: Beyonce performing at the Superbowl and dropping her visual album, Formation, and the virility of black men dying from police shootings. Droga5 staff nor society at-large were truly engaging with the uncomfortable issue at-hand: race.
The Race Issue, examines how race shapes our identities and relationships (whether if it's how we see or label ourselves, or how others view and treat us).
