130 million girls globally don’t have access to a proper education. It’s an issue Bono’s non-profit organization, ONE, had spent years campaigning to help address, but progress had stalled. Other issues were vying for the world’s attention and funds, and it was hard for first-world citizens to rally behind the issue when they didn't feel nor understand the impact of not having access to education.
To garner attention and support, we developed a strategy that made the issue feel as big as the number of girls out of school globally.
#EveryGirlCounts asked global citizens to pick a number between one and 130 million and film or photograph themselves saying, singing or in any number of creative ways to depict that number, in hopes to combine the videos into the world's longest user-generated film that urged world leaders to take action to ensure every girl gets a quality education.
